MATERIAL REQUIRED
- Any yarn suitable for crocheting with a 3 mm hook.
- 2 mm crochet hook.

STITCH ABBREVIATIONS:
SC – Single Chain
HDC – Half Double Crochet
DC – Double Crochet
TC – Treble Crochet
SL – Slip Stitch
Ch – Chain
Fpdtr – Front Post Double Treble Crochet
Dc3tog – Double Crochet 3 Together
PATTERN
Foundation Chain and Calamus: Ch 7, then chain an additional 6 to start the calamus section. Next, chain 1 and slip stitch into the next 6 chains. Finish this segment by chaining 7.
Row 1: Begin by chaining 3 (this counts as the first dc), then work 2 double crochets in the same stitch. Follow this with 3 double crochets in each of the next 3 chains. Now, perform 1 double crochet 3 together (dc3tog), followed by 1 treble crochet on the calamus, and another dc3tog. Continue by working 3 double crochets in each of the next 3 chains, and finish with 3 double crochets in the last chain.
In the subsequent rows, all double crochets (dc) will be executed exclusively in the back loop.
Row 2: Ch 3, which counts as the first dc, then work 2 dc in the same stitch. Proceed by crocheting 3 dc in each of the next 3 dc stitches, followed by a dc3tog (three dc stitches worked together), and 1 front post treble crochet (fptr). Skip the treble chain from the previous row, work another dc3tog, continue with 3 dc in the next 3 dc stitches, and finally, complete the row with 3 dc in the last dc stitch.
Row 3: Ch 3 (which counts as the initial double crochet), then work 2 double crochets into the same stitch. Follow this with 3 double crochets in each of the next 3 double crochets, perform a double crochet three stitches together (dc3tog), and execute a front post double treble crochet (fpdtr) by using the treble crochet from the two previous rows. Skip the treble chain from the previous row, work another dc3tog, continue with 3 double crochets in each of the next 3 double crochets, and finish with 3 double crochets in the last double crochet.
Row 4 – 8 (or 10, depending on your desired feather size): Replicate the Row 3.
Reducing Rows:
Row 1: Ch 3 (which counts as your first double crochet), then work 1 double crochet in the same stitch. Follow this with 3 double crochets in the next 3 stitches, 1 double crochet 3 together (dc3tog), 1 front post double treble crochet (fpdtr) using the treble from the 2 previous rows, skip the treble chain from the previous row, 1 dc3tog, 3 double crochets in the next 3 stitches, and finally, 2 double crochets in the last stitch.
Row 2: Ch 3 (counting as your first double crochet), then work 1 double crochet in the same stitch. Continue with 2 double crochets in the next 2 stitches, 1 dc3tog, 1 fpdtr using the treble from the 2 previous rows, skip the treble chain from the previous row, 1 dc3tog, 2 double crochets in the next 2 stitches, and finish with 2 double crochets in the last stitch.
Row 3: Chain 3 (counting as your first double crochet), work 1 double crochet in the same stitch, 1 double crochet in the next stitch, 1 dc3tog, 1 fpdtr using the treble from the 2 previous rows, skip the treble chain from the previous row, 1 dc3tog, 1 double crochet in the next stitch, and end with 2 double crochets in the last stitch.
Row 4: Chain 3 (counting as your first double crochet), work 1 dc3tog, 1 fpdtr using the treble from the 2 previous rows, skip the treble chain from the previous row, 1 dc3tog, and complete with 2 double crochets in the last stitch.
Row 5: Chain 3 (counting as your first double crochet), work 1 double crochet 2 together (dc2tog), 1 fpdtr using the treble from the 2 previous rows, skip the treble chain from the previous row, and finish with 1 dc2tog, 1 double crochet in the last stitch.
Row 6 (all stitches will be finished together): Chain 2 (counting as your first unfinished double crochet), work 1 dc2tog, 1 fpdtr using the treble from the 2 previous rows, skip the treble chain from the previous row, 1 dc2tog. At this point, you should have 5 loops on your hook. Chain 1, fasten off, and weave in all ends.
The completed feather measures 17cm in length and 5cm in width.
