R1 (Round 1):

  1. Begin with a magic circle.
  2. Chain 6 (this counts as 1 double crochet + 3 chains for the space).
  3. Into the magic circle, repeat the following 8 times:
    • 1 double crochet,

  2. In each chain space, make a bobble stitch, followed by chain 5. Repeat 8 times around.
  3. Slip stitch into the first stitch to close the round.

NOTE:

What’s a Bobble Stitch?
A bobble stitch is made like this:

  • Yarn over, insert the hook, yarn over, pull through,

  • Yarn over, pull through 2 loops.

  • Repeat this 5 times (you will have 6 loops on your hook).

  • Yarn over and pull through all loops, then yarn over and pull through once more to secure.

R3 (Round 3):

  1. Work 7 single crochets (sc) into each chain space around.
  2. You should have 8 groups of 7 sc.
  3. Slip stitch into the first chain to close the round.
  4. Fasten off and cut the yarn.

R4 (Round 4 – Adding the Second Color):

  1. Attach your second color to any stitch.
  2. Make 1 single crochet (sc) into each stitch around.
  3. Slip stitch into the first sc to join.
  4. Fasten off and cut the yarn.

Creating the Corners

  1. Use stitch markers to mark every 7 stitches to separate the corners.
  2. Attach the second color into the 2nd chain after a stitch marker.
  3. Chain 3, then slip stitch into the 2nd chain (this creates a small loop).
  4. Repeat this 2 more times.
  5. Chain 2, then slip stitch into the 2nd chain before the next stitch marker.
  6. Fasten off and repeat in each corner.

And there you have it! A beautiful textured piece with lovely bobbles and defined corners! I hope this guide makes it easy for you. Just take your time, breathe, and enjoy every stitch. Happy crocheting, dear! 💕😊
