YARN REQUIREMENTS:

Main Color (MC) (53201 Aqua): 1 ball (for both sizes)

Contrast A (53221 Soft Fern): 1 ball (for both sizes)

Contrast B (53514 Topaz): 1 ball (for both sizes)

 

Use a 5 mm (U.S. H-8) crochet hook or any size needed to achieve the correct gauge.

 

GAUGE:

16 single crochets and 17 rows equal 4 inches [10 cm].

GRANNY SLIPPERS CROCHET PDF PATTERN

 

INSTRUCTIONS

Motif A (Make 2)

With your main color (MC), chain (ch) 5.

Join the last chain to the first one with a slip stitch (sl st) to make a circle.

Round 1: Chain 3 (this counts as your first double crochet). Then, make 17 more double crochets in the ring. Join your last stitch with a slip stitch into the top of the chain 3. You should have 18 double crochets in total. Cut the main color yarn.

Round 2: Attach yarn B with a slip stitch to any double crochet. Chain 2. Now, yarn over (yoh) and pull up a loop twice in the same stitch. Yarn over again and pull through all 4 loops on your hook. Then, yarn over and pull through the last 2 loops on your hook—this is a cluster stitch.

*Chain 1. Now, yarn over and pull up a loop 3 times in the next double crochet. Yarn over and pull through all 6 loops on your hook. Yarn over and pull through the last 2 loops on your hook—this is another cluster stitch. Repeat from the * around, ending with a chain 1. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the chain 2. Cut yarn B.

Round 3: Attach yarn A with a slip stitch to any chain-1 space. Chain 3 (this counts as your first double crochet), then make 1 double crochet in the same space.

Now, make 5 double crochets in the next chain-1 space. In the next chain-1 space, make 2 double crochets, then do that again in the next chain-1 space. Repeat from the * four more times. After that, make 5 double crochets in the next chain-1 space, and then make 2 double crochets in the last chain-1 space. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the chain 3. Fasten off your yarn.

 

MOTIF B (make 4).

Continue working like you did for Motif A until the end of the 2nd round.

3rd Round: Attach yarn A with a slip stitch to any chain-1 space. Chain 3 (this counts as your first double crochet), then make 1 double crochet in the same space.

Next, make 2 double crochets in the next chain-1 space.

In the following chain-1 space, make 5 double crochets. In the next chain-1 space, make 2 double crochets, then do that again in the next chain-1 space. Repeat from the * two more times.

Now, in the next chain-1 space, make (2 double crochets, 1 half double crochet, and 2 single crochets). In the next 5 chain-1 spaces, make 2 single crochets in each one.

Finally, in the last chain-1 space, make (2 single crochets, 1 half double crochet, and 2 double crochets). Join with a slip stitch to the top of the chain 3. Fasten off your yarn.

Now, join the motifs together as shown in the diagram to create 2 uppers.

 

Sole:

Round 1: Start at the center back heel seam. Join the main color (MC) with a slip stitch (sl st). Chain 1 (ch 1). Make 1 single crochet (sc) in the same spot. Then, work 1 sc in the back loop of each stitch all the way around. Join with a slip stitch in the first single crochet. You should have 68 single crochets.

Round 2: Chain 1 (ch 1). Make 1 single crochet (sc) in the first single crochet. Pull up a loop in each of the next 2 single crochets. Yarn over (yoh) and pull through all the loops on your hook to make a single crochet two together (sc2tog). Now, do (1 sc in the next sc, sc2tog) two times. Make 1 sc in each of the next 16 single crochets. Do (sc2tog, 1 sc in the next sc) six times. Then, make 1 sc in each of the next 16 single crochets. Do (sc2tog, 1 sc in the next sc) three times. Finally, join with a slip stitch (sl st) to the first single crochet. You should have 56 single crochets.

Round 3: Chain 1 (ch 1). Make 1 single crochet (sc) in each single crochet all the way around. Join with a slip stitch (sl st) to the first single crochet.

Round 4: Chain 1 (ch 1). Do (1 single crochet in the next sc, sc2tog) three times. Make 1 single crochet in each of the next 10 single crochets. Do (sc2tog, 1 sc in the next sc) six times. Then, make 1 single crochet in each of the next 10 single crochets. Do (sc2tog, 1 sc in the next sc) three times. Finally, join with a slip stitch (sl st) to the first single crochet. You should have 44 single crochets.

Round 5: Follow the same instructions as Round 3.

Round 6: Chain 1 (ch 1). Do (1 single crochet in the next sc, sc2tog) two times. Make 1 single crochet in each of the next 10 single crochets. Do (sc2tog, 1 sc in the next sc) four times. Then, make 1 single crochet in each of the next 10 single crochets. Do (sc2tog, 1 sc in the next sc) two times. Finally, join with a slip stitch (sl st) to the first single crochet. You should have 36 single crochets.

Round 7: Chain 1 (ch 1). Do (1 single crochet in the next sc, sc2tog) two times. Make 1 single crochet in each of the next 6 single crochets. Do (sc2tog, 1 sc in the next sc) four times. Then, make 1 single crochet in each of the next 6 single crochets. Do (sc2tog, 1 sc in the next sc) two times. Finally, join with a slip stitch (sl st) to the first single crochet. You should have 24 single crochets.

Finish: Fasten off and sew the flat sole seam.

 

 

LADY’S VERSION

MOTIF A (make 2).

Round 1: Chain 4 (this counts as a triple crochet, tr). Work 17 triple crochets in the ring. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the chain 4. You should have 18 triple crochets. Break the main color.

Rounds 2 and 3: Work these rounds the same way as in Motif A of the Child’s Version. Do not fasten off.

Round 4: Chain 1 (ch 1). Make 1 single crochet (sc) in the same spot as the last slip stitch. Make 1 sc in each of the next 3 double crochets (dc). Make 3 sc in the next dc. *Now, make 1 sc in each of the next 8 double crochets. Then, make 3 sc in the next dc. Repeat from * until you reach the last 4 dc. Make 1 sc in each of the last 4 dc. Finally, join with a slip stitch to the first single crochet. Fasten off.

 

MOTIF B (make 4).

Starting: With the main color (MC), chain 5 (ch 5). Join with a slip stitch (sl st) to the first chain to make a ring.

Round 1: Chain 4 (this counts as a triple crochet, tr). Work 17 triple crochets in the ring. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the chain 4. You should have 18 triple crochets. Break the main color.

Rounds 2 and 3: Work these rounds the same way as in Motif B of the Child’s Version. Do not fasten off.

Round 4: Chain 1 (ch 1). Make 1 single crochet (sc) in the same spot as the last slip stitch. Make 1 sc in each of the next 5 double crochets (dc). *Make 3 sc in the next dc (this is the corner). Then, make 1 sc in each of the next 8 stitches. Repeat from * two more times.

Make 3 sc in the next stitch, and place a marker on the center stitch (this is another corner). Then, make 1 sc in each of the next 14 stitches. Make 3 sc in the next stitch, and place a marker on the center stitch (this is the last corner). Finally, make 1 sc in each of the last 2 stitches.

Join with a slip stitch to the first single crochet. Fasten off. Join the motifs together as shown in the diagram to form 2 uppers.

 

Sole:

Round 1:

Finally, join with a slip stitch to the first single crochet. You should have 66 single crochets.

Round 3:

Chain 1 (ch 1). Make 1 sc in each single crochet all the way around. Join with a slip stitch to the first single crochet.

Round 4:

Chain 1 (ch 1). Do (1 sc in the next sc, sc2tog) three times. Make 1 sc in each of the next 12 single crochets. Do (sc2tog, 1 sc in the next sc) eight times. Make 1 sc in each of the next 12 single crochets. Do (sc2tog, 1 sc in the next sc) three times. Finally, join with a slip stitch to the first single crochet. You should have 52 single crochets.

Round 5:

Follow the same instructions as Round 3.

Round 6:

Chain 1 (ch 1). Do (1 sc in the next sc, sc2tog) two times. Make 1 sc in each of the next 11 single crochets. Do (sc2tog, 1 sc in the next sc) six times. Then, make 1 sc in each of the next 11 single crochets. Do (sc2tog, 1 sc in the next sc) two times. Finally, join with a slip stitch to the first single crochet. You should have 42 single crochets.

Round 7:

Chain 1 (ch 1). Do (1 sc in the next sc, sc2tog) two times. Make 1 sc in each of the next 9 single crochets. Do (sc2tog, 1 sc in the next sc) four times.
