CROCHET DOLL – MATERIALS

Yarn: Choose yarn in the colors you want for Spike. Suggest: White and skin tone, brown/black/yellow/red for hair, colors of your choice for clothes and shoes.

Amigurumi is often made with worsted weight yarn, but you can use any weight you prefer.

Crochet Hook: Select a crochet hook size appropriate for your yarn. Check the yarn label for the recommended hook size.

Filling: You’ll need stuffing material to fill the doll and give it a 3D shape. Polyester fiberfill is a common choice for amigurumi.

Safety Eyes: If you want your Spike doll to have eyes, you can use safety eyes. These are plastic eyes with a secure backing that you attach to the doll.

CROCHET DOLL – STEP BY STEP

 

CROCHET DOLL FOOT

Start: Begin with a chain of 10 stitches.

Round 1: Crochet 8 single crochets (sc), then increase by 3 stitches (1inc of 3 sc), followed by 7 sc, and another increase. You should have a total of 20 stitches.

Round 2: Increase by 1, then crochet 7 sc, increase by 3, crochet 7 sc, and finish with 2 increases. This round should result in 26 stitches.

Round 3: Crochet 1 sc, then increase by 1, followed by 7 sc. Repeat the pattern of 1 sc and 1 inc three times, then 7 sc, and finally, 1 sc and 1 inc twice. You should now have 32 stitches.

Round 4: Crochet 2 half double crochets (hdc), then increase with 1 hdc, followed by 7 hdc. Repeat the pattern of 2 hdc and 1 inc hdc three times, then 7 hdc, and finally, 2 hdc and 1 inc hdc twice. This round results in 38 stitches.

Rounds 5-8: Repeat Round 4, maintaining 38 stitches in each round.

Round 9: Crochet 10 sc, then alternate between decreasing (1dec) and crocheting 1 sc a total of 6 times. Finish with 10 sc, resulting in 32 stitches.

Round 10: Crochet 10 sc, then decrease 6 times, and finish with 10 sc. This round results in 26 stitches.

Round 11: Crochet 8 sc, then decrease 6 times, and finish with 6 sc, resulting in 20 stitches.

Rounds 12-19: Repeat Round 11, maintaining 20 stitches in each round.

Color Changes to Skin Color

Round 20: Switch to a skin color yarn. Using the back loop, crochet 1 sc in each of the 20 stitches.

Rounds 21-39: Continue with the skin color, crocheting 1 sc in each of the 20 stitches.

Put filling.

Return to White Color:

Round 40: Switch back to white yarn. Using the back loop, crochet 1 sc in each of the 20 stitches.

Rounds 41-46: Continue with white yarn, crocheting 1 sc in each of the 20 stitches.

Babies:

Work on the Left Side: For each point, crochet 1 sc and then chain 2.

 

CROCHET DOLL BODY

Continue with the following crochet instructions:

Round 47: Connect the legs with 7 chains. Work 20 single crochet (sc) stitches in one leg, 7 sc on the chain, 20 sc in the other leg, 7 sc in the chain. This completes a total of 54 stitches.

Round 48:  Work 1 sc in each stitch, maintaining a count of 54.

Round 49: Work 8 sc, then 1 increase (inc) for a total of 60 stitches.

Rounds 50 to 52: Work 1 sc in each stitch, maintaining a count of 60 for each round.

Round 53:  Bring the backstring into play and work 1 sc in each stitch, keeping the count at 60.

Rounds 54 and 55:  Work 1 sc in each stitch, maintaining a count of 60.

Round 56:  Utilize the back strap and work 1 sc in each stitch, keeping the count at 60.

Round 57:  Work 8 sc, then 1 decrease (dec) for a total of 54 stitches.

Round 58:  Work 1 sc in each stitch, maintaining a count of 54.

Round 59:  Bring the backstring into play and work 1 sc in each stitch, keeping the count at 54.

Round 60:  Work 7 sc, then 1 dec for a total of 48 stitches.

Rounds 61 to 65: Work 1 sc in each stitch, maintaining a count of 48 for each round.

Round 66:  Work 6 sc, then 1 dec for a total of 42 stitches.

Rounds 67 to 76:  Work 1 sc in each stitch, maintaining a count of 42 for each round.

Round 77:  Work 5 sc, then 1 dec for a total of 30 stitches.

Round 78:  Work 4 sc, then 1 dec for a total of 30 stitches.

Round 79: Work 3 sc, then 1 dec for a total of 24 stitches.

Switch to skin color:

Round 80:  Bring the back strap into play and work 4 sc, then 1 dec for a total of 20 stitches.

Rounds 81 to 84:  Work 1 sc in each stitch, maintaining a count of 20 for each round.

Cut the thread, leaving a piece for sewing.

Head Skin Color

Round 1: Start with a Magic Ring and make 6 single crochet stitches (sc) into it. (Total: 6 stitches)

Round 2: Increase in each stitch by making 2 single crochet stitches in each. (Total: 12 stitches)

Round 3: 1 sc in the next stitch, then 1 increase (2 sc) in the next. Repeat this pattern for the entire round. (Total: 18 stitches)

Round 4 to Round 11: Increase the number of single crochet stitches between each increase by 1 in each round. For example, in Round 4, make 2 sc followed by 1 increase; in Round 5, make 3 sc followed by 1 increase, and so on. Continue this pattern up to Round 11. (Total: 66 stitches in each round)

Round 12 to Round 24: Maintain the same stitch count of 66 single crochet stitches in each round.

Round 25: Make 10 sc, then 1 increase. (Total: 72 stitches)

Round 26: Make 11 sc, then 1 increase. (Total: 78 stitches)

Round 27 to Round 31: Maintain 78 single crochet stitches in each round.

Round 32: Make 11 sc, then 1 decrease (dec). (Total: 72 stitches)

Round 33: Make 10 sc, then 1 dec. (Total: 66 stitches)

Round 34: Make 9 sc, then 1 dec. (Total: 60 stitches)

Continue decreasing in each round as follows:

Round 35: 8 sc, 1 dec (Total: 54 stitches)

Round 36: 7 sc, 1 dec (Total: 48 stitches)

Round 37: 6 sc, 1 dec (Total: 42 stitches)

Round 38: 5 sc, 1 dec (Total: 36 stitches)

Round 39: 4 sc, 1 dec (Total: 30 stitches)

Round 40: 3 sc, 1 dec (Total: 24 stitches)

Round 41: (4 sc, 1 dec) repeated 4 times (Total: 20 stitches)

Tip: Attach the eyes between rows 22 and 23 with a distance of 10 stitches between them.

 

ARMS (make 2)

Skin Color

Using a starting chain of 8, follow these steps for the arms:

Row 1: Begin with 8 chains. In the 2nd chain, make 6 single crochet (sc), then increase by 3 sc, followed by 5 sc, and another increase of 3 sc. This completes a total of 16 stitches.

Row 2: Make 1 increase, followed by 5 sc, 1 increase, 1 sc, 1 increase, 5 sc, 1 increase, and 1 sc. This brings the total to 20 stitches.

Rows 3 to 7: For each stitch, make 1 single crochet, maintaining a total of 20 stitches in each row.

Row 8: Decrease by 1, then make 8 sc, decrease by 1, and finally, make 8 sc. This results in 18 stitches.

Row 9: For each stitch, make 1 single crochet, maintaining a total of 18 stitches.

Row 10: Decrease by 1, then make 7 sc, decrease by 1, and finally, make 7 sc. This brings the total to 16 stitches.

Change to White color.

SHOES

Round 1: Start with 10 chains. From the 2nd chain, make 8 single crochets (sc), then increase by 3 single crochets in the next stitch, followed by 7 single crochets, and another increase of 3 single crochets. This completes a round with a total of 20 stitches.

Round 2: Make 1 increase, then crochet 7 single crochets, followed by 3 increases, 7 single crochets, and finish with 2 increases. This round results in a total of 26 stitches.
