Crocheted Rose Leaf Pattern

You can create rose leaves in two different styles – a few small leaves in just one round, or larger ones with wire for added flexibility. Here’s how to do it with a 3.00mm hook and green yarn:

Small Leaves (Round 1): Chain 13. Single crochet (sc) in the 2nd chain from the hook. Half-double crochet (hdc) in the next chain. Double crochet (dc) in the next 3 stitches. Treble crochet (trc) in the following stitch. Work 2 treble crochets (2trc) in the next stitch. Double crochet (dc) in the next 2 stitches. Hdc in the next stitch. Single crochet (sc). Slip stitch to the last chain. Turn your work to crochet along the opposite side of the stitches you’ve just made.

Opposite Side of the Stitches (Round 2): Into the first chain, work: chain 1, single crochet (sc). Hdc in the next stitch. Double crochet (dc) in the next 2 stitches. Two treble crochets (2trc) in the next stitch. Treble crochet (trc) in the next stitch. Double crochet (dc) in the next 3 stitches. Double crochet (dc) in the next stitch. Single crochet (sc) in the last stitch. Chain 1 and slip stitch to join.

Final Assembly

Take all the yarn ends and pull them through the hole in the green piece, pulling tightly to secure the shape. You can also loop some wire around the base of the (ch3, DCs) to add extra stability, which becomes a part of the stem.

Wrap green yarn around the entire length of the rose stem. If you run out of wire but want to make it longer, simply twist and add more wire as needed. Finally, wrap green yarn around the stem to conceal the wire.

Enjoy creating your beautiful crocheted rose leaves!
