Hello dear friends and readers of our Handmade Learning blog, how are you? I hope you are all well as we start another week full of crochet learning. Last week I was studying some patterns that asked to be brought here on our blog and I found a very special and very useful one, Flower Hot Pad.

This pattern is beyond beautiful and perfect for use on bedspreads and blankets. We all know that crochet is a craft with infinite patterns, and of course flower patterns couldn’t be left out of this list. This flower project gives a very special touch in addition to adding elegance to the environment that this crochet is decorating.

This wonderful crochet pattern is not only very easy to make, but it is also practical and serves as a beautiful decoration for the environment, where it will bring a wide choice of colors and textures. Materials

  • 1/2 skein yarn (1st color)
  • 1/2 skein yarn (2nd color)
  • size “G” crochet hook

CROCHET ABBREVIATIONS (US TERMS)

Ch – Chain
Dc – Double Crochet
MC – Magic Circle
Sl St – Slip Stitch
St – Stitch

Hot Pad Instructions (using 2 colors: Color A and Color B):

Begin with Color A yarn. Create a foundation by chaining 4 and then connect the ends with a slip stitch to form a ring.

Chain 3, which counts as your first double crochet (dc), and then work 13 dc stitches into the ring. Finish this round with a slip stitch into the top of the initial chain-3.

Chain 23 and skip the next dc, then slip stitch into the following dc to create your first petal. Then, * 23, skip one dc, slip stitch in the next dc. Repeat from* 4 more times. Finally, chain 23 and slip stitch at the base of the first petal to begin forming the seven petals.

 

 

Row 1: Single crochet (sc) in each of the first 11 chains of the first petal using Color B. Work 3 sc into the next chain at the top of the first petal. Finish by crocheting 1 sc in each of the last 11 chains of the first petal, resulting in a total of 25 sc. Repeat this for all the remaining petals.

Row 2: Transition to Color A yarn. Start with 1 sc in each of the first 12 sc of the first petal. Crochet 3 sc in the next sc at the top of the petal. Conclude by crocheting 1 sc in each of the remaining 12 sc in the first petal, resulting in a total of 27 sc. Repeat this for all the remaining petals.

Row 3: Switch to Color B yarn. Begin with 1 sc in each of the first 13 sc of the first petal. Work 3 sc in the next sc at the top of the petal. Finish by crocheting 1 sc in each of the remaining 13 sc in the first petal, resulting in a total of 29 sc. Repeat this for all the remaining petals.

Row 4: Change to Color A yarn again. Start by crocheting 1 sc in each of the first 14 sc of the first petal. Crochet 3 sc in the next sc at the top of the petal. Conclude by crocheting 1 sc in each of the remaining 14 sc in the first petal, resulting in a total of 31 sc. Repeat this for all the remaining petals. Fasten off.

 

 

Working from the right side, gently fold each petal over. Twist each one to the left and spread and flatten them to create the desired shape.

Finishing

  • With color A yarn, crochet two petals together at the tip of the fold.
  • Create a single crochet trim around the edge of one petal, making sure to place 3 single crochets at the very top of the petal.
  • Single crochet to the next petal and create a single crochet trim over the top edge of that petal.
  • Continue this process all the way around, still using color A, and then fasten off.
