SC – Single Chain

HDC – Half Double Crochet

DC – Double Crochet

TC –  Treble Crochet

SL – Slip Stitch

Ch – Chain

 

Note: Ensure you leave an exceptionally long tail, approximately 20 centimeters, to weave at the ends.

Chain 51 enters the round.

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS

Round 1: Begin by Chain 2, then execute a half double crochet (HDC) in each of the following 5 stitches. After that, perform an HDC, chain 1, HDC combination in the next stitch. Proceed with HDC in the next 12 stitches. Follow this with another HDC, chain 1, HDC in the next stitch. Repeat this pattern, HDC in the next 12 stitches, HDC, chain 1, HDC in the next stitch, for a total of three times. Finally, complete the round by executing HDC in each of the last 6 stitches and join with a slip stitch to the top of the initial chain 2.

Round 2: Begin with a chain 2, then work HDC in each of the following 6 stitches. Continue by performing an HDC, chain 1, HDC combination in the chain 1 space. Proceed with HDC in each of the next 14 stitches. Repeat this pattern, HDC, chain 1, HDC in the chain 1 space, HDC in each of the next 14 stitches, for a total of three times. Conclude the round by executing HDC, chain 1, HDC in the chain 1 space, and then HDC in each of the last 7 stitches. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the initial chain 2.

Round 3: Commence with a chain 2, followed by HDC in each of the next 7 stitches. Perform an HDC, chain 1, HDC combination in the chain 1 space. Continue with HDC in each of the next 16 stitches. Repeat this pattern, HDC, chain 1, HDC in the chain 1 space, HDC in each of the next 16 stitches, for a total of three times. Finish the round by executing HDC, chain 1, HDC in the next chain 1 space, and then HDC in each of the next 8 stitches. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the initial chain 2.

JOINING SLEEVES:

Round 4: Chain 2. Complete half-double crochets (HDC) in the next 8 stitches. Then, HDC in the chain-1 space. Fold the body to align the current chain-1 space with the next one to create an even armhole. Single crochet (SC) through BOTH chain-1 spaces, pulling them together to form the armhole. HDC in the newly joined chain-1 space, and continue with HDC in each of the next 18 stitches. HDC in the next chain-1 space. Fold the last chain-1 space to align with the other one, forming the second armhole, and SC through BOTH chain-1 spaces to join them together. HDC in the recently joined chain-1 space, and finish with HDC in the last 9 stitches. Finally, join with a slip stitch to the top of the initial chain-2.

Change to a new color for the waistband.

Round 5: Ch 2. HDC in each stitch around, and join with a slip stitch to the beginning Ch-2.

Round 6: Ch 2 to start. HDC in each stitch across, and join to continue working in the round.

Transition to Skirt Color: At the end of Row 6, switch to the color for the skirt.

Round 7: Chain 2 and HDC in the same stitch as the joining. HDC in the next 3 stitches, and then make 2 HDC in the following stitch. Repeat this pattern all the way around. Join with a slip stitch to the beginning chain, and Ch 5 to finish.

Round 8: Begin by working a treble crochet into the same stitch as the initial Ch5. Follow this by performing treble crochets in each of the next 3 stitches. Then, execute a treble crochet, chain 2, and another treble crochet in the subsequent stitch, repeating this pattern all the way around. As you approach the end, ensure there are 3 treble crochets before you join. It’s acceptable to double up here if necessary; maintaining a count of three is the crucial factor. Conclude the round by Ch 4.

Round 9: Treble crochet, chain 2, and another treble crochet in the Ch 2 space. Proceed to work a treble crochet into the next 4 stitches. Then, execute a treble crochet, chain 2, and another treble crochet in the next chain-2 space. Continue this sequence around the circle, working in this manner until you reach the last 3 stitches. Finish by performing a treble crochet in the last 3 stitches and joining with a slip stitch to the top of the chain-4. Chain 4.

Round 10: Commence by performing a treble crochet in the next stitch. Follow this with a treble crochet, chain 2, and another treble crochet in the chain-2 space. Continue by executing treble crochets in the next 5 stitches. Then, perform a treble crochet, chain 2, and another treble crochet in the subsequent chain-2 space. Continue this pattern all the way around, stopping when you reach the last 4 stitches. Conclude the round by executing a treble crochet in the last 4 stitches and joining with a slip stitch to the top of the chain-4. Chain 4.

Round 11: Begin by working treble crochets in the next 2 stitches. Then, perform a treble crochet, chain 2, and another treble crochet in the next chain-2 space. Continue by executing treble crochets in each of the next 6 stitches. Afterward, perform a treble crochet, chain 2, and another treble crochet in the next chain-2 space. Proceed to follow this pattern around the circle, stopping when you reach the last 3 stitches. Complete the round by performing a treble crochet in the last 3 stitches and securing with a slip stitch into the top of the chain-4. Chain 4.

Round 12: Start by executing treble crochets in the next 2 stitches. Then, perform a treble crochet, chain 2, and another treble crochet in the next chain-2 space. Continue by working treble crochets in the next 7 stitches. Follow this with a treble crochet, chain 2, and another treble crochet in the next chain-2 space. Proceed in this manner around the circle, stopping when you reach the last 3 stitches. Finish the round by performing a treble crochet in the last 3 stitches and securing with a slip stitch into the top of the chain-4.

Begin by changing the yarn color when slip stitching into the last rounds chain 4. Create a new chain of 4 with the new color and continue.

Round 13: Make a treble crochet (TC) in the next 4 stitches. After that, TC, chain 2, TC in the next chain-2 space. Continue by making TC in the next 8 stitches. Then, TC, chain 2, TC in the next chain-2 space. Repeat this pattern all the way around until only 3 stitches remain. Complete the round with TC in the last 3 stitches. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the initial chain 4. Chain 4.

Round 14: Work a TC in the next 5 stitches. Then, TC, chain 2, TC in the next chain-2 space. Continue with TC in the next 9 stitches. TC, chain 2, TC in the next chain-2 space. Repeat this pattern around until you reach the last 3 stitches. Finish the round by making TC in the last 3 stitches, and join to the chain 4 with a slip stitch. Chain 3.

Edging Row: In the same stitch where you joined, make a double crochet (DC). Skip 1 stitch, single crochet (SC) in the next stitch, skip one more stitch, and make 3 DC in the following stitch. Repeat this pattern until you reach the chain-2 space. In the chain-2 space, make 5 DC. Then, skip the next stitch, make 1 SC in the following stitch, skip 1 more stitch, and make 3 DC in the next stitch. Continue this pattern until you come to the last stitch. Finally, make 1 DC in the same stitch as the first chain-3. Cut the yarn and fasten it off.

Now, take the time to weave in all of your loose ends and stitch up the back of the dress. With the back of the dress facing you, join the yarn in a stitch at the back of the neck edge and chain 1. Make a single crochet (SC) in each stitch around the neck. Fasten off and weave in all ends.

SLEEVES:

Starting with the backside of your project facing you, secure the yarn into the stitch BEFORE the underarm stitch on the left sleeve. Create a Ch 2 and work a half double crochet (HDC) in each stitch around, ensuring to include the stitch in the arm pit area of the sleeve. When you reach the end of the round, join and change the yarn color to complete the sleeve. Chain 1, single crochet (SC) in each stitch around, and fasten off. Finally, tidy up by weaving in all ends.

For the right sleeve, attach the yarn in the stitch immediately  AFTER  the underarm stitch. Follow the same instructions as for the left sleeve.

Make 2 Curly Cues: Leave an 8-inch tail.

Chain 30.

Work 2 SC in the second chain from the hook and in each subsequent stitch across. Fasten off, leaving a long  tail (8 inches).

Making the Bow: Leave an extra long tail (24 inches) and use the body stripe color.

Chain 25.

Work a half double crochet (HDC) in the 3rd Ch from the hook and in each Ch across. Join with the contrasting color and Ch 2. Turn.

Continue working HDC in each stitch across. Rejoin with the previous color and chain 2. Turn.

Complete the final row by working HDC in each stitch. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing and wrapping  bow (about 24 inches).

Fold the bow in half to align the ends and sew them together using a blunt eye needle. With the seam at the back, use the yarn to wrap around the middle of the bow repeatedly until it forms a secure bow. Tie it securely.

The written pattern was based on a dress that measures 8 inches across the chest, is for about a 3 months size, but you can adjust it by increasing or decreasing the crotch size according to your needs.
